262892 Shay: WacArnolds.

262731 tib gubb: @Robespierre I was fortunate enough to have a rich agriculture (relatively) locally, where anything seasonal could be delivered within 12 hours or so from harvest. We were food exporters, so we only had seasonal availability, and only B-grade picks. It did bring a lot to visiting a supermarket, when each season had its own distinct smell... Nowadays, it's farmers' markets that practice that, but they're not there year-round

262856 VeeKay: Always suspected this is what girls do when they go to the bathroom together.

chunk norris: @funny in the wall Local sketch comedy show Almost Live! beat them by 25 years. There was a sketch called Super Hero Answer Bureau where the panellists ask Batman why he doesnt use his vast wealth to get to the source of the problem instead of waiting until it gets out of hand and then swooping in and busting heads. And Batman says, But I like to swoop in and bust heads. I help society and I get my kicks!
bookcase: @funny in the wall @antipatterns At some point in the 1980s the writers must have clued into this because since the 1990s its been a regular part of the Batman mythos that Bruce Wayne donates a lot to charity, volunteers at soup kitchens, doesnt let his companies destroy the environment even if it means he makes less money, etc.
Christina: Tattoos: you can't erase them, so ink over them.
funny in the wall: @antipatterns there was a pretty good SNL skit recently where low-income people talk shit about batman beating up their friends at a wayne charity event
antipatterns: @funny in the wall Yeah better not build any schools with that Wayne money, better to buy a tank that shoots missiles at petty thieves

itskando: ** biting. Story line. Aren't
itskando: I think the making of documentary for the dark Crystal was interesting. I think it's a great exercise but lacking in execution. You won't see anything else remotely like it though which makes it very unique. A movie with no humans which is still very easy to follow. I think the plant life is immersing, I like the subtle differences between each of the skeksis and The fact that they are a button cross section of modern society in many of its facets. Plus it's just pretty to watch. The sorry love might be paper thin, even for a classic good and evil story - even for one made in the 80s, but god damn if the set design and the costume design and the muppeteering spot on.
 frenk: Hahaha @Mr. Butt
mexican: I thought it was stupid as a kid honestly.
funny in the wall: @jochenau that's right, the puppets are cool but they do not a good movie make
VeeKay: I have of late, but wherefore I know not, lost all my mirth. And indeed it goes so heavily with my disposition that this goodly frame, the earth, seems to me a sterile promontory. This most excellent canopy, the air, look you, this brave o'erhanging firmament, this majestical roof fretted with golden fire, why, it appeareth nothing to me but a foul and pestilent congregation of vapours. What a piece of work is a man! How noble in reason! How infinite in faculties! How like an angel in apprehension. How like a god! The beauty of the world! The paragon of animals! And yet, to me, what is this quintessence of dust? Man delights not me, no, nor women neither. Nor women neither.
TurkeyVulture: @funny in the wall it's not so much that we love living in Jim Henson's worlds as it is that we would love to live in a world where everybody loves Jim Henson's worlds.
jochenau: @funny in the wall @Mr. Butt An endless barrage of WONDROUS and WHIMSICAL encounters isn't really a good substitute for plot and narrative structure, I think.
Mr. Butt: @funny in the wall Beat me to it!
Mr. Butt: Here's a controversial opinion: While I really like Jim Henson's work for TV, I think all of his movies are boring.
funny in the wall: i know that this is the group that might lynch me for what i am about to say but here it goes: i did not care for the dark crystal and i find jim hanson films over rated (with the possible exception of the Labyrinth but there the credit for not making it an ubearable slog belong Bowie)
