Theimposter: Something something something trendy atheism.
Robespierre: @Bu7Z Are you making a shameless push for Purple?
Bu7Z: @Bu7Z the guy who's a born into money, and had his own reality TV show, that guy will be the most powerful person in the whole world.
Bu7Z: @tokyopig But yes. I'm not as messed up as I think I am, mainly because I'm not as messed up as I think the world is. And fuck me if it isn't as about as fucked up as it could get. Really the one thing that convinces me that I'm not 'the solipsist' is that the world is far more fucked up than even I could imagine.
Bu7Z: @tokyopig if the world is as messed up as @sparename eating shoes, then by definition any solipsist is as messed up as the world.
Bu7Z: @sparename, nope. I just imagine you eat shoes.
 sparename: @tokyopig @Bu7Z "I eat shoes"
tokyopig: @Bu7Z Counterargument: Its possible that epistemological solipsism is the reason why you're not as messed up as you think you are.
Bu7Z: @Bu7Z also try to visualise 4th dimensional solid objects appearing as slices in three dimentional space. I blame this up there with solipsism as why I am as messed up as I am.
Bu7Z: @tokyopig as far as 'reasons to go insane' I think contemplating infinity as one of the most noble. So consider any number to the power of infinity. Or better yet infinity to the power of infinity... So the number of integers is infinite, and the number of real numbers between each integer is infinite, therefore the number of real numbers is infinite squared. But how is any one 'infinite' more than Another 'infinite'? Consider this long and deep enough and you will go mad.
tokyopig: @Bu7Z Well there must be higher powers, because otherwise we would have no quadratic function, no cubic function, no quadric function etc... In fact, the strange thing would to believe in only polynomials of degree 1. The devil's in the linearity.
Bu7Z: @El Barto Write the note, then set fire to it. If there is someone who is supposed to read it they will, otherwise we should all just get on with our lives assuming that there is no 'higher power'
tokyopig: The fake postage and ink stamping written in with marker really sells me on the existence of Jewish Armadillo.
El Barto: @Bu7Z Who should we address it to? Now that Chris Hitchens is gone.....Bill Gates? He seems like a cool dude.
tritium: The sum total of Amber, Megan and Kristin's knowledge of Yiddish.
Bu7Z: Dear non existent God, we atheists just want things to be not as fucked up as they are, like can we please not kill people in the name of gods that probably don't exist? Also, would it be too hard to recognise any human life as just as valid as any other regardless of what that human believes? That would be great thanks.
ASTER: Hey, Judaism has plenty of recognizable characters! Tommy Pickles, Rose Lalonde, uh, Abaddon. Moses.

karmakat: @SunWukong one GIANT problem with your speech. I have SELF-ESTEEM and won't stoop so low to GIVE POOP TO PEOPLE. and I say that as a salesman.
SunWukong: @karmakat If you've found someone to sell it to, you've found someone who doesn't think it's crap. If you make money, you've found quite a few.
karmakat: @SunWukong okay then i guess everyone should make side money by selling their kid's arts and their drugged relative's too.
SunWukong: @Bu7Z most art "back then" was crap. The Renaissance churned out innumerably more hacks than geniuses. Just that they did not end up in national galleries.
Bu7Z: @Bu7Z doesn't mean art now days ain't shit though. Sigh...
Bu7Z: @SunWukong that's quite a deep coment on the nature of reality and art. If art now was the same as art 'back then' then it wouldn't be art would it?
SunWukong: @karmakat wouldn't make much sense if it were. The world isn't.
karmakat: art is really not what it used to be...

Felicity: @Bu7Z I already love Motorhead and Ace of Spades but that appearance made me love them even more. That is without a doubt my favourite instance of that song. :-)
Bu7Z: @Bu7Z man, I'm all about the double post thisarvo. I blame my internet, running like a two legged dog...
Bu7Z: @Bu7Z also the one time motorhead appeared on 'the young ones' they performed 'ace of spades' so you can notice a common thread in my posts recently. (I know, the young ones images both got rejected so it's kinda hard to follow...)

Bu7Z: @enfanta that's fine, it's a niche market. We have a music quiz show here in Australia, where one of the challenges is name the band and song but the person singing is using an unrelated text as the lyrics. This one time the guy paused for a moment and adjusted the mic stand so it was 7 foot high and pointed down, the contestant said 'oh I know this one, don't need to hear the song, it's motorhead.' And the quiz master, knowingly, said ohh but I neet the artist and the song... And the contestant said... 'Um.., ace of spades?' And won the point.
enfanta: @Bu7Z I can't speak for anyone else but I've never knowingly listened to Motorhead. I could tell you were quoting something but it didn't mean anything to me. Sorry.
Bu7Z: See I don't get this. Some lame comment about copper oxides and I've got more +1 than when I quoted motorheads ace of spades but switcheroo'd it to eight of spades. What the hell spaceship?
Bu7Z: The water is that colour because of copper oxides.

 thecraftywolf: @WaffleIron entact?
WaffleIron: @tokyopig : oh my! I too work at a robotics company! You're not in Toronto are you?
tokyopig: @Bu7Z I work at a robotics company. I just sorta fell into the job looking for work as a programmer, I had no history in robotics before this and I still know jack dick about robotics specifically. I can however write competent, i.e. working code, which is an oddly underrepresented skill here. I mean, my god you should see the android app that Nikon expects you to use to connect to their expensive ass camera -- it's like it was made by an absolute beginner.
Bu7Z: @tokyopig dude you should rad @sports image. We totally used it to have a chat that has no relevance to anything.
Bu7Z: @tokyopig hehe, notice how this image has nothing to do with our convo, and no comments relating to the image. @sports I rad your image for no reason other than that i hijacked it. Cheers bro!
Bu7Z: @tokyopig oh dare I ask? What is your product? (I was joking before about being a narc in your company so your secret is safe with me)
Bu7Z: Either way im'a gonna get drunk, cause it's friday, I ain't got no work, and I ain't got shit to do!
Bu7Z: @tokyopig salariman vs the hacker work ethic. Where here it's the Protestant vs the hacker work ethic. I'm so glad my new employer calls Friday a short shift, but still I'd much rather work 12 to 16 hour days when I've got something on my mind and then blow off a whole day when things are slow.
tokyopig: @Bu7Z Also Japanese workers aren't as vigilant as you'd think.... I was pretty shocked when I started working here at the number of people sleeping at their desks. There's this whole phony overtime thing too where you people don't want to leave until their boss does so they just fart and around socialize at the office until like 11pm or whatever. My work ethic is considerably tighter and less about appearances but I guess I do indulge in a fair amount of slack.
tokyopig: @Bu7Z Just release a fairly major update to our product's software, so I'm just sort of hovering back at the office while they confirm things are working at the site.
 tokyopig: @Bu7Z I am at work! And it's 4:31.
Bu7Z: @tokyopig (poke poke) ok you're an hour ahead of me (poke) but still it's what 4.30 there? (Poke) you at work? (All this time, posting drunk random stuff, I'm really a sleeper agent in tokyopigs company to see if he's off agrronaughting when he should be working)

Bu7Z: Hey @tokyopig, we're in the same time zone (I think) do you knock off early on a Friday and get into some afternoon drinkies or are you still at work?
Bu7Z: "If we're gonna do all we can to get away with stealing thier money, they're probably gonna do all they can to steal our pens. Best chain them up.

RiderFan: Suddenly Vinesauce Joel's video about him laughing at a googley eyed fleshlight comes to mind...
Bu7Z: @tokyopig I'm not enough of a trekki to have an opinion, love Shatner for his musical career more than his acting. I watched a few original star treks back in the day when that was all the Star Trek there was.., and I've tried to get into it im later years but there's so much else out there more believable/engaging. ...and I'm a book kinda guy with my scifi, so Iain m banks, Stephen Baxter, Neal Stephenson, Arthur C. Clark, frank Herbert...
tokyopig: @Bu7Z He's from an earlier generation of Trek actors whose character names were more seemly than than their stage names/actual names. For example, James Tiberius Kirk William Shatner but Jean Luc Picard Patrick Stewart. Data is probably the only one from TNG that I think doesn't sound better with the stage name for the character. I mean think about it, doesn't lieutenant Dorn sound just as good if not better than Lieutenant Worf? Counselor Sirtis instead of Counselor Troi? Maybe its just me.
Bu7Z: Is that right? William Shatner? That's his name.., I've said it out loud often enough (often 'the William Shatner spoken word version is better') but to type his name... SHATNER. that just seems wrong somehow.
