272683 White Rice: @Science damnit! I should have expected as much from a JC where an English teacher wouldn't answer to anything other than "Coach" and somehow marked me absent over 30 times in the first 2 weeks of class :-/ Well, leave it to @Science to set our misconceptions on science straight.

272539 Kaviri: Firepower.

272659 Mr Bleak: Looks like she is regretting the vegetarian option.

272774 Sadbot: Comrade @TurkeyVultureTed gets right to the heart of the issue, though

272621 lecj07: @Science imagine her as a take on chucky. This is how she lures you in.

272734 Throwbot: I imagine regular flavor tastes like beige

272681 Mr Bleak: Masterblaster: One man, one cat, and one chicken enter. One cat leaves.

272540 Science: @a sedated moose: Yep. And apparently it's now all factory farming where the civets are horribly mistreated.

272816 fanny: @dangerkeith3000 but do you think diet would change the taste of people? like grass fed beef vs. cows that eat whatever? And breast fed babies vs. formula fed?

272639 Sadbot: Throw a hardcover at somebody's head

jochenau: There's nothing inherently binary about electricity. You could set up a trinary system where 0 volts means 0, between 0 and 10 volts means 1, and 10 or more volts means 2, for instance. That said, binary is much more practical than trinary or decimal or whatever else, for a number of reasons.

Teechur: @fanny 13 days with seniors, 23 with everyone else. And my reading list for the summer includes car and home repair manuals, apparently. I'm going to pretend that I'm putting the house on the market this fall.
Air Biscuit: Im on the 7th dark tower book.
fanny: @Teechur :( that's horrible spacefriend. I lost my father in law several years ago that way, I can only imagine what your family is going through. good luck with the shower, and here's to summer reading (only 32 more days with students for me:)
Teechur: @Mr. Butt @fanny Yeah, I've been reading up on how to install a Kerdi wet room shower. Stepmother is in a wheelchair due to a glioblastoma. No pleasure reading for me until summer.
White Rice: @Mr. Butt I have to say, when I learned of the authors death before the series was finished, I was worried it wouldn't get finished. The last 3 are via his notes, his editor/wife's knowledge of how it was progressing, and the work of another author who was inspired by the series to start writing (it's a smooth transition, I really enjoyed the conclusion)
Mr. Butt: @White Rice I purchased the first box set (Books 1 - 3) a while back. Definitely planning on buying the rest of the series once I get through those :)
fanny: @Lantry yeah i started that a while back and gave up. maybe i'll pick it up again...@Mr.Butt Ill give Dune a look! @Zarathustra Wind Up Bird was my absolute favorite followed by 1Q84 :)
White Rice: @Mr. Butt ooh, Eye of the World, that's the start to a journey and a half (though there is a bit of a drag around book 6/7, but if you can get through it it all picks back up)
Lantry: @fanny I'm about halfway through One Hundred Years of Solitude. the writing is really good but the narrative arc seems kinda flat.
Mr. Butt: @fanny Finally got around to reading Dune about a week ago (loved it). Just finished The Eye of the World yesterday (loved it). Trying to finish Salem's Lot in the next couple days (it's whatever).
Zarathustra: @fanny try the latest medical literature about ADHD. Joking aside, I recently read tsukuru tasaki and his years of pilgrimage. I suggest it to everyone.
fanny: why is moby dick so skinny? (and pavillion of women is a great book. Hey! we havent talked about what we're reading in a while! anyone? I'm finally getting to Murakami's most recent collection of short stories, Men Without Women. love it so far :)
